Florida Land Clearing Permit Resources

It is your land, but it is your responsibility to know the code. We are operators, not attorneys. Use these direct links to check your county's requirements before we arrive.

Collier County

The Law:

A "Vegetation Removal Permit" (VRP) is required for most clearing. If you are only removing invasive exotics (Brazilian Pepper), you may qualify for an exemption, but you must file the affidavit first.

Pinellas County

The Law:

Strict protection. You need a "Habitat Permit" for almost any tree removal over 4 inches in diameter. New 2026 enforcement uses satellite imagery to track canopy loss.

Orange County

The Law:

If your lot is vacant, you generally cannot clear it without a building permit or a specific "Nuisance Abatement" approval.

Charlotte County

The Law:

They have a specific "Mulching Permit." You cannot just "bush hog" a vacant lot for future sale without this paper.

Sarasota County

The Law:

Distributing the root zone (tilling/grubbing) requires an Earthmoving Permit. Removing Grand Oaks is a major offense.

The Law:

If you are in a "Preserve Area," you need a PAMP (Preserve Area Management Plan). Do not clear Palmettos here without checking the map.

Volusia County

The Law:

Stand-alone tree removal permits are required for trees >6" DBH. Vacant lots are highly regulated to prevent "speculative clearing."

The Law:

Indigenous vegetation is protected. Invasive removal is allowed but must be done without "site grading."

The Law:

TreeShop Land Management is a mechanical service provider. We are experts in operating machinery, not interpreting municipal code. The property owner is 100% responsible for obtaining all necessary permits, exemptions, and surveys prior to the start of work.

If a Stop Work Order is issued due to lack of permitting:

  1. Work ceases immediately.
  2. The client is liable for the full daily rate of the machine until the site is cleared or the machine is demobilized.
  3. TreeShop assumes no liability for fines, remediation costs, or legal fees levied by the county.
